Honor Oak Community Centre heavily subsidises rates to support grassroots, public activities that benefit the wider community. Please check which category applies to your booking:

Community / Charity Rate

Subsidised for public community benefit:

  • Free or non-profit community services, workshops, and support groups
  • Activities that are open to the wider general public
  • Registered local charities and grassroots community projects

*Proof of non-profit / public community status may be requested.

Standard / Private Hire Rate

For exclusive, private functions:

  • Birthday parties, baby showers, and family gatherings
  • Weddings, anniversaries, and memorial receptions
  • Commercial workshops, ticketed events, or business hire

*Applies to all private bookings, including those made by local residents.

The Main Hall

The Main Hall is available for weddings, birthday parties, naming ceremonies, baby showers, fitness classes, and community events. It has a capacity for up to 150 people with sprung wooden flooring and adjacent servery access via a serving hatch.

Do local residents qualify for the Community Rate?
The Community Rate is not a residential discount; it is a heavily subsidised rate reserved strictly for non-profit, public community initiatives, support groups, and registered charities that are open to the wider public. Private events—including birthday parties, family celebrations, and gatherings hosted by local residents—are charged at the standard Private Hire Rate.
What are the music cut-off and pack-down times?
Music, live DJs, and entertainment must stop promptly at 10:00 pm. The hour between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm is dedicated to cleaning, stacking tables and chairs, and vacating the building. Hirers have access to the centre’s outdoor commercial bins for all bagged rubbish.
Can we bring our own alcohol, caterers, or bouncy castles?
Yes. You are welcome to bring your own food and alcohol for free guest consumption (selling alcohol is strictly prohibited without a Council Temporary Event Notice). Bouncy castles and helium balloons are permitted in the Main Hall. Please note: Smoke/fog machines and open candle flames are strictly prohibited due to sensitive commercial fire alarms.
How do the £300 security deposit and cancellations work?
A £300 refundable deposit is required for private event lets. Following your event, a joint walkthrough is completed with the caretaker before 11:00 pm, and your deposit is refunded within 14 days (2 weeks). Bookings cancelled more than 20 days in advance are fully refundable; cancellations within 20 days are non-refundable. Hirers must be 25 years or older.

Meeting Room / Lounge

Our Lounge / Meeting Room is ideal for workshops, committee meetings, clubs, training sessions, and small social gatherings. It features comfortable seating, flexible table layouts, and direct access to the servery serving hatch.
